Kirkland Market Street Study
Project Description

|
|
The Market Street study was a neighborhood-funded study to address traffic
and access issues along the Market Street corridor. Market Street serves as a
parallel corridor to I-405 and, during commute hours, traffic volumes make it
difficult for Market Street residents to easily and safely enter and exit their
neighborhood. Poor sight-lines, angled street approaches and off-peak
speeding further create difficult access for residents throughout the day.
Our study focused on ways to improve inbound and outbound mobility to
neighborhoods along Market Street. We recommended several changes
which included: innovative signal timing modifications, sight distance
improvements, turn restrictions and corridor traffic calming.
Working with the neighborhood group we identified a series of actions to
improve the accessibility of the neighborhood for pedestrian and vehicle
traffic. The Task Force, in conjunction with community input, has prioritized
these projects based on the level of support and ability to fund and
implement these projects.
