We believe that successful transportation solutions must include careful consideration of managing growing travel demands. Transportation Demand Management (TDM) reduces demand on the street system. We have been involved in several challenging projects that include a demand management focus.
Our demand management projects include various HOV facility planning and design studies, and Commute Trip Reduction Programs Mirai staff have many years of expertise in HOV facility planning and design. Our current projects include several that are looking at options to price HOV facilities as HOT lanes.
Our modeling staff provided support to the WSDOT Statewide Tolling Study
released in the Spring 2006 and we are leading the WSDOT Congestion Relief Project, Phase II
that is looking at ways to reduce congestion using a HOT network in the Puget Sound Region Transportation Demand Management (TDM) reduces demand on the street system.
The State of Washington emphasized the importance of transportation demand management by adopting the Commute Trip Reduction law 15 years ago. Mirai completed the case studies and provided the modeling support for WSDOT’s innovative TDM project – the TEEM Model which tested TDM strategies to reduce the number of vehicle trips in a subarea or corridor.
